Vic was one of four brokers that I contacted. Two were essentially non-responsive, which seems common for the industry and was an immediate red-flag. I worked with both Vic (who was recommended by my buying agent) and one other mortgage broker for the beginning of escrow, as I compared offers and learned about the process. This was my first home buying purchase. I wanted to be precise about my research on brokers, given that this is by far the most money I've ever spent, but the entire process is based on a lot of pointless documents flying around. This makes it impossible to stay on top of everything. Vic was helpful for understanding what was in these documents without having to study each one, although it was still important to read them to look for unexpected things. He also made sure that the whole process was explained in detail up front, which was helpful when questions came up -- I never found a cheat-sheet or at-a-glance calendar explaining the escrow procedure but his "Mortgage School" presentation is the next best thing. It covered things that I needed to know and that the other broker was not forthcoming about. Beyond that, Vic was very responsive to texts and emails. He strongly prefers phone calls to offline communication, which means plenty of personalized attention if that's what you want.Due to current market conditions, I'm expecting to refinance in the next year or two and both mortgage lenders offered a "no-cost-refi" when the time comes. This means I'll have to deal with the broker again. Given all of that, I ended up choosing Vic and Straight Deal Mortgage to handle my loan. With the refi, I have effectively chosen him for my next one as well. I have no doubt this was the superior choice.

We worked with Vic as our lender when buying our first house and had a great experience! I am a spreadsheet person. I love talking numbers, I love seeing different scenarios laid out next to each other, and in most situations I make a spreadsheet like that myself to help me grasp the whole picture. Vic makes that kind of spreadsheet himself and they were SO extremely helpful to us as we were sorting out how much we wanted to thin out or stretch our budget. There's a ton of information packed into one of those sheets but Vic was always willing and openly offering to schedule time together to go through each detail even though he himself has a very busy schedule. Despite all this he was always finding ways to accommodate us and when we needed things clarified he did a great job of breaking down what the numbers meant and why it may be advantageous to pick one scenario over another. Put another way, he really helped educate us in the loan process and language, rather than just giving us one number we were stuck with, so now thanks to him we're much better equipped going forward if we ever need a loan again or when we refinance.For our specific purchase things got a little wonky at the eleventh hour because it was a limited authority probate sale, but Vic rolled with the punches smoothly, he kept a cool head, took the time to carefully explain our very unusual situation, gently advised us which path would be best to follow, and then quickly turned things around in time for closing and got us a great rate given the current climate. I don't believe another lender would have been able to pull off such last minute changes in the middle of escrow but Vic kept the process rolling on through the finish line! After closing, it also seems he sends out a little newsletter in the physical mail that has some housing news and a little blurb about what he's been up to in his personal life which I think is really sweet. We'd definitely recommend him to others when they're looking for a lender and we'll also be speaking to him again when we eventually refinance. Thank you so much Vic!!

We had a very complex situation: two self-employed earners with new businesses, student loans all complicated by the forbearance situation, co-signers, imperfect credit, etc. Vic guided us through several dark and thorny pathways, made us run when we had to and held our hand and encouraged us the entire time. I still can't believe we have a beautiful home in the bay area during this insane market period. We would chose to work with him again in a heartbeat! My family and I are forever grateful!

Vic Joshi and his colleagues are outstanding at what they do. We just completed our second round of real estate refinancing with Vic, and the loans and terms that he found were better than we expected. He has a great general knowledge of the bond and mortgage markets (I say this as an economics professor who teaches in this area), and a great practical ability to shop for the best lenders that met our complex borrowing needs. His online document loading and signing process is super easy and efficient, and he always responds immediately to email, text or telephone--even if away from his office. Vic got me four mortgages, all for the same house. 6.5% 30 year, 5.5% 30 year, 4.5% 15 year, 2.8% 15 year. With each mortgage Vic was very organized, very clear in his communication about the process and about what would happen. Plus, he's fun. I will definitely use him in the future.

Although we have considerable assets, excellent credit and plenty of equity, we were having trouble getting cash out on the house.After having been rejected by our existing mortgage company for cash out refinancing, based on income the past couple of years during Covid -19, and our self employed status, Vic was able to find a way for us to reach our goal.I highly recommend him and hope to work with him again

Although we have loads of equity in your house, excellent credit, and plenty of assets, our existing mortgage lender was not willing to give us a cash-out refinance based on my self-employed status with less than ideal income during the two years of Covid-19.
